The Men's Lacrosse Team competes in Poland for a place in the 2023 World Cup

The Spanish Men's Lacrosse Team (SELM) will play Between April 11 and 16, 2022, in the European Lacrosse Qualifiers in the city of Wroclaw in Poland. In this tournament, only 11 countries will classify for the 2023 World Lacrosse Championship in San Diego (California – USA).


The tournament will gather 30 European countries, including Spain. It replaces the 2020 European Championship that should have been held in the same city in July 2020, but as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic could not take place. In order to simplify the tournament, it has been transformed into a qualifying tournament to access the World Cup.


The Spanish Men's National Team will attend with a full team of 23 players and 8 Staff members, led by Head Coach Mike Bartlett. They have been preparing intensely for this important event since before the pandemic. "Poland is not our destination, it's just part of our journey because our goal is the World Cup in San Diego" - Mike Bartlett


ROSTER:


Spain will compete to reach one of the 11 spots to be in the World Cup, for which they will play 5 games during the 6 days of the competition. Spain is in group A, along with Wales, Slovakia, Turkey, Denmark, and Latvia.

As they are SAE, without whose sponsorship they could not afford such large preparation and competition expenses; Azuqueca de Henares Townhall, the base of the Spanish national teams, who have provided the facilities where the different concentrations have taken place since 2021; Urban Poke at Álcalá de Henares, who has provided nutritious food to the squad during these concentrations; Rawsuperdrink, who will provide energy to the team during such intense week of competitions.


In addition, the head referee of Spain Lacrosse, Santiago Aranguren, will officiate the championship alongside several of the best referees in the world after obtaining his L3 last December, making history in Spanish lacrosse.
